Self Help For Anxiety

“Anxiety’s like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you very far.”

Jodi Picoult, author
Self Help For Anxiety: We all feel a little anxious from time to time. It’s completely natural – especially when faced with something important to us or something outside our normal comfort zone. Things like a problem at work, the driving test, an important exam, that speech or the presentation we have to make or even before some sort of important decision.

But, all these things are just a temporary worry or concern. Anxiety disorders are more, much more, than this.

For those suffering with an anxiety disorder the fear is real and constant – it doesn’t go away. In fact, it get’s worse and worse as time goes on until eventually symptoms start to affect relationships, normal daily activities and quality of life.

In this section we’re not looking at the vast array of different specific fears (you can find this in our section on Specific Fears) but the generalised anxieties.
